About WorkingMan WebDesign

WorkingMan WebDesign is owned and operated by Michael Farnham. An employee and webdesigner for Monotype Imaging Inc. Michael has been with them for 28 Years.

Starting off as a technician working with the first generation of digital typography on a system called “Ikarus”. Developed by german engineer Dr. Peter Karrow, Ikarus used digital plotting boards and highly complex mathematical algorithims to create computer generated outlines of characters. These digital outlines were used to create 250 point renderings of the letterforms that were then photographed and turned into filmstrip representations of the fonts.

Throughout the years Michael has moved with the various technologies of font production from using Digital Main Frame computers all the way up to Macintosh and P.C.s to create and manipulate typography.

In 1994 Michael started writing simple HTML pages using Netscape Communicator and developed a working knowledge of html that was usesd for personal webpage design. In 2000 a position working on the beginning stages of the e-commerce systems for Monotype Imaging opened up and Michael took the position. Working with a world class group of programmers they have developed 2
e-commerce system and a series of brouchure based websites for the company.

Programming in VB.Net V1.1 and now VB.Net 2.0 for the web, Michael continues to be part of an exciting development of e-commerce websites with global reach.
